Welcome to DeathsApprentices! This is a team-based roleplay group focused on storytelling, character development, and meeting new people. If you are not comfortable working or communicating with other people, sharing points with teammates, or coordinating with the group, this group may not be for you.

GENERAL

  • All DeviantArt rules and policies apply to this group.
  • Respect the admins and members.
  • Keep personal issues, drama, and conflict private. If a member or an admin is causing problems, please note the group about it [see Reporting and Punishment].
  • Do not privately contact an admin about group issues or concerns [see Reporting and Punishment].
  • This group is strictly rated PG-16. Tasteful nudity is fine, excessive gore is not.
  • Don’t spam the group with advertisements for contests, other groups, or your own page.

ROLE-PLAYING

  • Keep in mind that characters and their owners are separate; a rude character does not imply the creator is rude as well.
  • No god-modding
  • Godmodding is when someone’s character has the ability to do almost anything without limits or boundaries. Nobody is good at everything; try and keep yourself in check.
  • No meta-gaming
There are things that you know OOC that your character in story does not know. Please try to separate your own knowledge from your character’s.
  • No powerplaying
Powerplaying involves taking control of another character without the owner’s permission. ( For an example, John sticks out his leg to trip Peter, and Peter immediately trips and falls onto the ground. Here, John’s owner is taking control of Peter without letting Peter’s owner to react themselves. ) Let the other party reply for their own characters.
  • Respect other members’ decisions.
Because of the nature of divisions, conflict is bound to arise. You are not allowed to kill or seriously injure other characters if their owners are not comfortable with it. Additionally, do not try to force a relationship with another character if the owner does not want it.

CHATROOM ETIQUETTE

  • Please use the correct chatrooms for out of character talk and roleplaying.
  • Welcome others as they join the chat; nobody likes feeling left out.
  • Be respectful and friendly to everyone. It doesn’t matter who they are, or how you feel about them.
  • Refrain from using other languages aside from English for extended periods of time.
  • Keep chatter about other groups to a minimum.
  • Please do not spam the chat. This includes icon spamming, multiple “sub” coded messages, etc. It’s too fast to read, keep track of, and prevents other members from interacting.
  • All Role-Playing rules apply in the roleplay chatroom.
  • Keep out of character talk in the roleplay chat to a minimum. If you need to speak out of character, use parentheses.

SKYPE CHAT ETIQUETTE

  • Basic Chatroom Etiquette rules apply to Skype Chat Etiquette as well.
  • DO NOT change the topic of the skype chat without admin approval; changing the topic/title is an admin action only.
  • Please do not directly upload images onto the group skype chat. We have been getting complaints that this crashes a lot of members’ Skype on mobile devices. Use links ( like Gyazo or Stash ) instead.
  • Please do not remove messages from the skype chat unless it is completely necessary.
  • If you are not already in the Skype group chat and wish to be added, please note the group with your Skype username.
  • If you cannot follow the above rules, you will be kicked or suspended from the Skype chat.

NON-PLAYABLE CHARACTER RESTRICTIONS

  • NPCs have no stats and, therefore, cannot participate in events. However, NPCs are completely usable in casual chats and art.
  • Please submit your finished application to the group. The mods will review it and comment with input.
  • If the application is denied, take two weeks to edit it. If the application is sent in again before the two weeks is up, it will be declined.
  • There is a limit of 3 NPCs per person.

SUBMISSIONS

  • All submissions must follow the DeviantArt terms.
  • All art must be your own. This means no tracing, copying, using bases, etc. Application artwork may be drawn by someone else, as long as it’s properly credited.
  • Any resources (ie: tutorials, pose references, etc.) must be properly credited.
  • A mature content filter must be on gory or sexual art. If we deem something too explicit, we reserve the right to deny it from the gallery.
  • Deviations must be submitted to the correct folders. If you are unsure where to submit a piece, feel free to ask in the chats, or through notes or comments.
  • All submissions must be group related.
  • Characters or content that does not belong to you must be properly credited.
  • You may suggest art from non-members, as long as the art is group related.

RULES OF COMBAT

There may come a time where your character will have to fight someone. Or maybe your character is playing a game of chess with someone. Or your character wants to make a very long jump, but they aren’t sure if they can make it. Or maybe your character is trying to charm their way out of a bad situation.

Most of the time you can just play it by ear and RP it out, but in times of uncertainty, you should follow the rules of combat, which uses your stats to determine the outcome. The rules of combat are loosely based off Dungeons and Dragons. They are as follows:
  • P1 wants to hit P2 with a sword. Such a feat requires strength, in which P1 has 3 points in. P1 first rolls a d20 (a dice with 20 sides). You can roll one here in this site or you can use our forum, which had been modded to roll d20s.
  • Whatever the results, P1 will add their strength points to it. So if P1 rolls a 5, they will add 3 to it. 5+3=8
  • Now it's P2’s turn to roll. P2 wants to dodge P1’s attack. P2 rolls a 10 and adds their dexterity to it, which is a 2. 10+2=12
  • P2 dodges P1’s sword.
That is the gist of things. You can do the same with a game of chess (intelligence versus intelligence), or scaling a wall (dexterity versus the difficulty from a scale of 1-20, where the number is set by the other RPer), or charming your way out of trouble (charisma vs how much trouble you are in from a scale of 1-20, where the number is set by the other RPer).

Concerning Attack
  • For MELEE attacks, your character would use their strength (STR) for aim and damage.
  • For RANGED attacks, your character would use their dexterity (DEX) for aim and strength (STR) for damage.
Concerning HP
  • The closer your character’s HP is to 0, the less able they will be. Assume they are disabled at 0.
  • When HP is below 0, your character will start to bleed out. Roll each turn as they struggle to hold on to life. Rolls below 10 will cause them to lose -1 in HP. A natural 20 will gain you +1 HP.
  • At -5 HP, your character will be in critical condition.
  • At -10 HP, death is imminent.

There are also some HOUSE RULES you can apply to make things more interesting. The most important one is if you roll a 1, it is ALWAYS an EPIC FAIL no matter how good your character is. On the other hand, a 20 is ALWAYS an EPIC WIN, no matter how incapable your character is. This adds some variation and surprise to your RPs.

There will be RP events where these Rules of Combat will be used, so it is best that you learn how to use them beforehand.

CHANGING ACCOUNTS OR USERNAMES
If you move accounts and plan on remaining in the group, please note the group with links to your original AND new account. The note must be from the account you initially joined the group with, or it will not be acknowledged. Once approved, we will remove your old account and application from the group, and send an invite to your new account. Please re-submit your application through your new account.
If you decide to change your username, please note the group with your old username AND your new username; this will simply help us keep track of things.

GOING ON HIATUS
If you won’t be online for a period of time but wish to stay in the group, please note us with a brief explanation and how long you plan on being gone. During that period of time, you will not be penalized for inactivity. This should only be used for real life situations such as vacation, school, work, etc.

LEAVING THE GROUP
Whether life gets in the way, or you simply lost interest in the group, we all have our reasons for packing our bags and moving on. If you plan on leaving DeathsApprentices, please note the group that you are leaving and remove yourself and your app from the group. It is ideal that you to inform your teammates as well of your departure. Although it is not mandatory, we would greatly appreciate any feedback or reasons for leaving in case there are any issues we need to resolve within the group.

REPORTING AND PUNISHMENT

Should an issue arise, please note the group with evidence of the incident. Screenshots of the conversations, or links to comments will do just fine. Without the proper proof, we will not be able to take action to resolve the problem, as we cannot accuse other members based on assumptions.

If an admin is making you uncomfortable, please note mintyfreshmangos, or the admin you are most comfortable discussing the issue with. Keep in mind that evidence is still required regardless of who you report it to or how you report it. This is the only time you may privately contact an admin regarding group problems.

Our punishment system will typically go by the three strikes system: two warnings before you are kicked on the third offense. Major offenses that concern the potential harm of a member may bypass this system and result in an immediate removal from the group. We do not tolerate such behavior.

Gggg i feel bad for asking more questions when you're busy im sorry gggg but i was wondering about these for plot reasons;;;

1. I know in the previous event that an hq-wide email was sent to alert people to the missing apprentices. For individual teams who are missing a member, how would they be told? Would it be an email as well?

2. In that vein, I know Death senses when an apprentice is killed, but how quickly would the remaining team be notified? How would they be notified?

3. If an apprentice had reason to believe that someone was missing (but not yet told officially) who would they talk to for help?

Ggg thanks again in advance hhhh o)-<
